A Missed Chimney Inspection & Cleaning Won't Warn You First
Creosote buildup, cracked liners, collapsed flue tiles, blocked dampers – none of these announce themselves. They build quietly behind walls and inside flues until there’s smoke in your living room, a fire in your attic, or carbon monoxide in your bedroom. By then the damage is done.
A CSIA-certified inspection catches them early – before they become emergencies. We use cameras, not guesswork, and we document every finding in writing so you have a clear picture of your chimney’s actual condition, not a verbal summary from someone with an incentive to sell repairs.
- Catches creosote buildup before it ignites
- Identifies carbon monoxide pathways into living spaces
- Documents liner damage, blockages, and structural failures
- Satisfies insurance requirements and real estate disclosures

Three inspection levels defined by NFPA 211 – each appropriate to different situations. Level 1 for annual maintenance, Level 2 when your situation has changed (new home, fuel change, home sale), Level 3 when concealed structural damage is suspected.
- Level 1 - Annual Visual Inspection
- Level 2 - Video Scoping Of Full Flue
- Level 3 - Full Structural Assessment
- Written Report On Every Level
High-resolution camera scoping of the full flue interior. Cracks, liner damage, collapsed tiles, and blockages that are completely invisible to a flashlight and a mirror – documented on video and included in your written report.
- Full Flue Interior Camera Scope
- Liner Crack & Damage Detection
- Smoke Chamber & Tile Condition Review
- Video Footage In Your Report
A chimney fire – even a small one – can crack the liner, compromise the structure, and create a pathway for the next fire to spread into the building. This inspection documents the full extent of damage and determines what’s needed before you light another fire.
- Full Post-Fire Structural Assessment
- Video Documentation Of All Damage
- Insurance-Ready Written Report
- Rebuild & Repair Scope Included
Buying or selling a home with a fireplace in Chicagoland? A Level 2 with video documentation is the industry standard – increasingly required by attorneys and lenders. We turn reports around fast.

- Attorney & Realtor Ready Documentation
- Fast Turnaround For Closing Deadlines
- Covers All Fireplace & Flue Types

- Full Flue Inspection After Clearing
- Cap & Cover To Prevent Recurrence

How Every Chimney Inspection & Cleaning Visit Works
Whether you’ve booked an annual sweep, a Level 2 inspection for a home sale, a post-fire assessment, or obstruction removal – every visit follows the same structured process. No surprises, no shortcuts.
1 Step
Book & Confirm
Call us or submit the form and we’ll confirm the right service for your situation – annual sweep, Level 2 for a home sale, post-fire assessment, or something else entirely. Same-week appointments available across Chicagoland, Monday through Saturday.
2 Step
We Arrive & Protect Your Home
Your CSIA-certified technician arrives on time with all equipment. Floors, rugs, and furniture are covered with drop cloths before we open the damper or bring anything into the room. Protecting your home is the first step – every time, without being asked.
3 Step
Inspect The Full System
We inspect the entire chimney system – firebox, smoke chamber, damper, liner, crown, cap, and flashing. Where applicable, a high-resolution camera is run through the flue to document its interior condition. This happens before any cleaning or repair work begins, so we know exactly what we’re dealing with.
4 Step
Service & Walk-Through
We carry out whatever was booked – sweeping the flue, cleaning the firebox and smoke chamber, removing a blockage or nest, or completing the full Level 2 video scope. Once done, the technician walks you through every finding in plain English: what’s a safety priority, what’s optional, and what’s perfectly fine. No jargon, no pressure.
5 Step
Written Report Before We Leave
Every visit ends with a full written report documenting the condition of the system, every finding, and any recommended next steps – separated into what’s urgent and what can wait. Level 2 inspections include video footage. The report is formatted for insurance companies, real estate attorneys, and lenders – not just a handwritten notes sheet.

Before You Book Your Chimney Inspection
How often does my chimney actually need to be inspected?
Once a year at minimum - that's the NFPA recommendation, and it applies even if you barely use the fireplace. Unused chimneys still collect moisture, animal debris, and deteriorate structurally. If you've had a chimney fire, bought a new home, or changed fuel types, you need a Level 2 before the next use.
What's the actual difference between Level 1, 2, and 3?
Level 1 is a standard visual inspection - appropriate for annual maintenance when nothing has changed. Level 2 adds camera scoping of the full flue and is required any time your situation has changed — new home, home sale, fuel type change, or after any event involving the chimney. Level 3 involves opening the structure and is only ordered when serious concealed damage is suspected from the Level 2 findings.
Will there be a mess in my home during the cleaning?
No. We protect floors and furniture before we start and remove all soot, ash, and debris before we leave. This comes up repeatedly in our reviews - not because we mention it, but because customers are genuinely surprised by it.
Do you sweep furnace and boiler flues too?
Yes - furnace and boiler flue sweeps are one of the most under-serviced areas in Chicagoland homes, especially in older buildings. A blocked furnace flue doesn't just reduce efficiency; it creates a direct carbon monoxide pathway. We handle both fireplace and heating appliance flues.
I barely use my fireplace. Do I still need an annual inspection?
Yes. Animal nests, moisture infiltration, and structural deterioration don't care how often you light a fire. An unused chimney with a blocked flue is just as dangerous as an overused one - the carbon monoxide risk from your furnace flue is the same either way.
What documentation do I get after the inspection?
A full written inspection report on every visit. Level 2 inspections also include video footage of the flue interior. Both are formatted for use with insurance companies, real estate attorneys, and lenders - not just a notes sheet.
There are birds or animals in my chimney. What now?
Don't light a fire. A nest in the flue is a complete blockage - lighting the fireplace pushes smoke and carbon monoxide back into the home and can ignite the nest. We remove the obstruction, inspect for any damage from the nesting, and install a cap to prevent recurrence.
How quickly can I get an appointment in the Chicagoland area?
Most appointments across our Chicagoland service area are available within the same week. We're available Monday through Friday 7AM - 5PM and Saturday 7AM - 3PM.
